What GS Looks At
Home Affairs says applicants must be genuine students and demonstrate that studying in Australia is the primary reason for applying. The GS requirement recognises that genuine students may later develop skills Australia needs and may choose to apply for permanent residence, but the student visa application must still show a genuine study purpose.
GS Questions Usually Cover
- Current circumstances including family, community, employment, and economic situation.
- Why you chose this course and this education provider.
- Your understanding of the course and studying and living in Australia.
- How the course will benefit you.
- Any previous study or visa history relevant to the application.
How to Write Better GS Answers
Avoid copied statements. Use your own history, course research, career goals, sponsor background, and evidence. Keep answers clear and direct. Home Affairs states there is a 150-word limit per response and that statements supported by evidence carry more weight.
Evidence That Can Support GS
Academic transcripts, employment letters, income documents, course research, career explanation, family ties, previous study records, and financial evidence can all support a stronger GS profile when relevant.
